  On the first machines where I encountered it, enabling it in the BIOS also
enabled the EIDE controller on the motherboard.  And since these were all-
SCSI systems that were short of IRQs already, we couldn't have that.
  I was reluctant to enable it for some time after that experience.
Fortunately, it appears to have been a bug/misfeature of that particulr BIOS
and not a deliberate consequence of SMART itself.
