That is probably the case the printer might be a network printer if it is
not directly connected the pc via a parallel cable or a usb cable. try to
install as network printer if you are in a network environment. Are you on a
network? do you have a network cable in the rear of your pc that connects
you a network is the printer shared as a resource on the network and
assigned a "printer name  or share name"????
