I'm running Win98SE on a Compaq Deskpro 4000 (Pentium 200MMX).
I bought a Lexmark Printer (USB) and I installed it....everything was
ok...but when I sent some docs to the printer, some of them get printed only
until the half lenght of the paper..
I called Tech Supp and they told me about an updated USB driver for
windows....(The compaq uses a Via Tech 3038 PCI to USB chipset)..
I downloaded it, installed, and in the middle of the instalation, the
windows hangs and dies...
I restarted the machine and found a device marked with a yellow ! into the
device tab. I removed it and every time I restart the machine, a Wizard
launch a Via Tech USB 3038 instalation device....but when I tell windows
where look for the files, it start the instalation, but never finished
cause the windows hangs 100%...no response from ctrl-alt-del, no mouse
movement....100% dead...only power button....
and I lost "forever" the USB driver.....cannot print...and , the embeded
network card did not work too!..(it worked before the USB driver update)
I need some help on this.....any idea??
TIA
sergio
