Back in the sixties, when so-called 'new age' remedies were being
introduced to the US, fasting was in vogue. However, many fasters at that
time became violently ill because of the accelerated release of DDT that
had been stored in their fatty tissues. Fasting authorities at that time
had to caution their students about this potential problem. Nowadays, since
DDT is illegal in the US it's not as much of a concern, but it does
illustrate how fat storage of toxins *can* be a problem.
