I want to complain very strongly about a BBC1 TV lunch time news item that apparently said gluten free diets are merely a "fad" . My son has coeliac disease and this is a condition that can be life threatening if un-diagnosed and if sufferers do not strictly adhere to a gluten free diet.
The condition is generally only diagnosed after a bowel biopsy and a gluten challenge diet, followed by a second biopsy.

To imply that gluten free diets are just a fad is grossly negligent on the part of the BBC and I am shocked and disappointed that a quality organisation should be so lax.
Adhering to advice that gluten free is "fad" is one that could realistically result in people making wrong and life-threatening decisions about their life style. I believe such messages form the BBC would show them to be irresponsible and contributing to resulting harm suffered by individuals no longer complying with a GF diet as a result of the show.
Please make sure you very publicly and very widely provide not only a retraction of this mis-information, but also that you provide some correct advice and information about the condition.
