While driving down Ventura Blvd. in the San Fernando Valley (Los Angeles), at
the intersection of Balboa Blvd., I noticed an interesting sign on a small
eat in/take out restaurant. It said, "Chili My Soul" 30 plus flavors.
Being a devotee of Chili, I had to stop and investigate. What I found was a
wonderful selection of Chili's that we can eat. Randal Hoffman, the owner
was there and told me that all his chilis are thickened with corn starch.
The seasonings he uses are also GF. Each day he offers between 12 and 15
different varieties and he loves it when you come in and sample his food. He
prides himself on offering low sodium, low fat chili's along with an
interesting selection from which you choose three toppings.
There is a small eat-in area but the main business seems to be take out. I
prefer mild chili so I ordered the Tenderfoot made with beef and the Blanco y
Verde made with all white meat chicken. They were really delicious and the
non Celiac in the family loved it as well.
You can complete your take-home meal with their great chopped salad and the
fantastic tortilla chips.
I have no personal connection or financial interest in Chili My Soul but I
wanted to share this information with you Listees who reside within commuting
distance. We want to support those places at which we can comfortably find a
selection of food.
They are located at 4928 Balboa Blvd., Encino, Ca., corner of Ventura Blvd.
Their phone number is 1 818 981 SOUL. They are open seven days a week. They
have a website at www.chilimysoul.com and you can reach Randy, the owner at
[log in to unmask] if you have any questions.
If you do get by, introduce yourself to Randy and let him know you are a
Celiac. By the way, they offer all degrees of flavor from the very mild to
the very hot and spicy.
