Many individuals in Virginia have written to freshman Senator George
Allen regarding food labeling. His initial response cited old
prevalence statistics (1 in 4700), and was pretty non-commital. At
least one individual printed a copy of the "Celiac Fact Sheet' and
delivered it to Senator Allen's Richmond, VA office, along with an
additional letter to him. It appears he's listened.
Shortly afterward, Senator Allen's response appeared in the mail, with
an improved position, "I believe that we must work diligentily to
protect all Americans from agents that can seriously jeopardize their
health, and make consumers aware of the existence of these ingredients
in other foods to ensure their safety" .
Thanks Anna, and Good Work - Virginia.
