I think you answered your own question. The camera you described seems
to fit your needs. I have the same vision as you but for different
reasons. I use a Minolta Maxxum 7000 35mm auto focus camera. It has a
large view finder and the auto focus is easy to manipulate. The
functions are all on lcd and easy to read. I scan the pics after I have
them developed and use them for the same purposes you have described. I
have used digital cameras and like the Sony's.
