Dear List Members,

The Andrew Heiskell Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped in
New York City as well as the Albany Library for the Blind will be
seriously affected by the budget cuts proposed by Governor Pataki.
Reductions in on-site service hours and also in telephone service hours
are only the beginning of the planned cuts that would be necessary.
The libraries have asked that each of us take a few minutes to write a
short letter to the Governor urging him to restore the state funds for
libraries. In your letter please mention an example of how you depend on
library service.
Please take the time to
write as soon as possible.

Since all libraries throughout the state are affected by these budget
cuts, please urge family members and co-workers to write letters also.
