I travel a lot, too - my national airline has a
"profile" scheme for good customers, which flows
through to other partner airlines automatically
(supposedly - but always check in advance of lfights,
or make sure your booking person if you have one,
specifies you preferences) - my solution is to ask for
what the airlines call "lowfat" or "low cholesterol"
meals - they basically consist of fruit, veg, salad,
fish, plain meat, plus some grain foods (some
wholewgrain, some not) which you can avoid eating. You
can always get black tea & mineral water, and I always
carry green teabags with me. In a DECENT airline (the
bad ones give you lowfat JUNK food unfortunately, at
least in economy class!), these lowfat meals are
actually a choice by preference in economy class,
because they can't give you cheap fatty dairy-rich
carb-rich rubbish and so it's much better than the
usual economy meals! This type of eating is a
wonderful against jetlag too! Just beware of
constipation caused by timezone changes, stress etc -
carry some prunes or prune juice if necessary, and
carry nuts for snacks if you like!
