I believe the hair loss is a result of the ketosis. Ketosis is stress for
the body and the first thing to hit women when they go through stress is
hair loss. This is my take anyway. It's quite a shock to the system to go
from SAD or paleo diet and take up ketosis style eating. I believe added
nutrients are needed on ketogenic diet to fight the free radicals released
in ketosis and to supplement the vitamins and minerals lost from lack of
fruit and vegetables. The women I know who have done long term
ketosis(2yrs) have lost about a fourth of their hair. Thats my opinion from
my own observation but it may be more. It's not a 'patchy' loss but more of
an overall thinning. Time will tell if the hair grows back when out of
ketosis.
On a more personal level I have more energy, bowels are looser, moderate
hair thinning and my metabolism is revved. I average 115 grms. of protein a
day, 21-24 carbs and 85 grms.or more of fat depending on the meat eaten,
majority of it monofat and I'm 5/7". I'm always hot in ketosis, even on a
cool day. Oliva
