Thanks for getting me properly set up on this list; everything seems to be
fine now.
In regard to special characters, I've found it very useful to have a
file.txt containing the special characters I occasionally want to cut and
paste (see below). This way I don't have to remember their ASCII numbers or
even insert+4. I've cut and pasted them (and a few more) from a character
file I found in Windows' System files.
As a result, I hardly ever use Word; I'm able to manage with Notepad,
Wordpad, and HJpad.
I'm grateful to John McCann for mentioning insert+8(numpad)
as a way to hear what things are that JAWS fails to identify automatically
in the course of messages on the present topic (and em-dash in particular).
