I have found a very effective way from preventing a pdf file from opening
in
Internet Explorer. Press Control+ K to go to the Preferences dialog. Use
the Up Arrow to get to the section marked Internet. Press Tab, and you
should land on a check box that says something like "display pdf in
browser." Make sure this is not checked. Then press OK, and when you find
a pdf document on the web, it should come up separately in Adobe.

At least this works for me running Windows 2000 and Windows XP and Adobe 6.

Keith
