Here is another way to work with shortcuts in the start menu.
1. Minimize all apps with Windows Logo key + M
2. Press the tab key until you get to the start button
3. Press the context menu key located just to the left of the right control key
4. This will open a menu, now press down arrow twice until you hear "Explore" and press Enter
5. This launches Windows Explorer and opens the Tree View with the Start Menu folder selected
6. Press down arrow to go to the Programs folder
7. Press the F6 key to switch to the list view
8. You can now delete, cut, copy, and paste the program groups and shortcuts.

Tip: You can paste a copy of frequently used shortcuts into the Start Menu folder to make them appear at the top of the start menu.

Subject: deleting programs from the start menu

Hello Everyone!

I would like to know, if anyone out there can forward me the steps how to
deleted stuff off the start menu under programs? I am using Jaws 4.0.

I have a few things that I would like to get off my start menu under the
program menu, so I would appreciate it very much, if some one out there can
assist me.

Thank you,

Mary
