        I, for one, feal using readers is a pain in the neck!  Unfortunately,
Scanners and other electronic technology can't yet totally replace human
reading technology.

        It seems a major part of my time and energy when I was in k-through-12 and
college was spent worrying about the availability and reliability of readers
and accesible materials, not to mention trying to correct what I wrote in
print, without seeing it.  I never saw anything wonderful about having to
use readers, or having to rely on a slate and stylus and manual typewriter
to prepare notes and papers.

        The technology we have today, though more expensive than what was available
in the past, has really made a difference in what we, as print impaired
people, can read and write independently.  It is true that reliance on one
technology without alternative backups is a bad idea, and that, as in other
situations, success is ultimately up to the individual.
