>>I tried Cordain's plan for a bit and did lose some weight (primarily
I believe because I was eating less calories), my energy levels werenot
terrific, and I simply did not feel satiated at all with lean meats.
This led me to overeat fruits.

My reply:
Did you add nuts and oil to the lean meat meals? Cordain's recipes add what
I consider generous amounts of nuts and oils. Perhaps you needed to add more
fat. It would still be in the range Cordain considers paleo correct. If you
did not want to use a lot of flax or canola oil, you could use olive oil,
more nuts... or add some fats Cordain condones but many other health experts
endorse (namely unrefined coconut oil).

In 2000, Loren Cordain, Ph.D. teamed with Eaton and several other scientists
to publish a paper entitled ³Plant-animal subsistence ratios and
macronutrient energy estimations in worldwide hunter-gatherer diets² in the
American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. In this paper the authors state that
³whenever and wherever ecologically possible, hunter-gatherers consumed high
amounts (45-65% of energy) of animal food² and ³most² derived 56-65% of
energy from animal foods. The authors suggest that ³the most plausible
percentages of total energy² in H-G diets are 19-35% protein, 28-58% fat,
and 22-40% carbohydrate.
