Hello all,
Here is a mystery: Minute Maid OJ contains the following: "100% orange
juice (concentrated orange juice, tricalcium phosphate, and calcium
lactate". Other natural OJ's, such as Odwalla or Happy planet, do not
contain these additives. I can drink them with no problem. Minute Maid
makes me cough.
I have a couple sources (up for discussion):
Our very own "Milk-related Ingredients" from the nomilk.com site. Titled:
"Milk-Free Diet--Avoid foods with these ingredients". This is probably the
most comprehensive list I found which was helpful because it was often more
obscure ingredients that seemed to bother me. On this list is
"lactate--calcium lactate* " with an asterisk which denotes: "May contain
milk protein. Check with a manufacturer to be sure." The list was
apparently posted by Roger Myers and he compiled the info from several
sources.
My conclusions are experiential. I do not buy Minute Maid OJ anymore.
Organic tastes better anyway.
Christy
