Reminds me of Garrison Keiler talking about one of the fictional Prarie Home Companion sponsors, a company that made "Deep Valley Beds" (they promote good marriages because they sag so much in the middle you can't stay apart for long in them). One of the benefits was your ability to get "more purchase with your knees" (if I remember the phrase correctly).
Ironic that he now shills for the Sleep Number Bed company--I thought that was joke at first until I remembered they are a real company.

Ralph, You've alluded to these FM shoes several times, what's the story on
them? I keep thinking of the fella lived up the road told one time about
how he always wore his sneakers when "gettin' down to business" because
they gave him more traction. The picture of this has always sent me into
fits of giggles. Ruth
