Well, I guess they both have their draw backs.  When I was at Motorola for
my interview at the hotel I spent thwhole morning playing with the IRLP
nodes, and I guess this one in Canada is the same way, but I have had no
luck with it.  What doesn't make sense to me is that there is another
repeater that is just retransmitting the coms that take place on the IRLP
machine in the same area.
