My limited reading of the manuals that have had DCS is that this is a type of selective calling system allowing you to direct communications to only one or a group of radios while other radios on the same channel remain quiet. Useful but anti-community I wonder as the nature of ham radio was first evolved to be.
I so see applications for ecom groups etc so they can monitor a busy channel while not having to listen to all the chatter on the channel.
