A trunking system is a system where whe a user keys up a radio that
transmission first goes to a computer that then chooses the frequency they
will operate usually out of a pool of 10 or 20, but this number could be
more or less depending on the size of the system. Here in the states they
are usually found on 800 or 900 MHz, but can be found on 400 and 500 MHz
as well, and the Nevada Highway Patrol I think has a VHF high trunked
system.
