You know, I'd reccomend as a good combo, something like either the
treo-kenwood, or the vx5, with the addition of something like the Yupiteru
mvt-7200, if you can find it, or the mvt-7100 which are all over the place.
The latter can be found for about $200 on the British second-hand market,or
one of the local radio shops here, which cater to hams.
Then, you'd have in the case of an almost useable hf receiver for the
sub-light bands, and something very nice for fm, and tv audio.
The 7200 has an excellent 2.6khz filter, which is lacking in the 7100. About
the only difference.
