If I were recommending a "starter" HF rig, it would be the 440.  The 440 is
its generation's Drake TR4; that is, a rig that is going to live forever,
imo.  If you can find one that has both the voice chip and the built-in
tuner, you should be in hog heaven...or should I say ham heaven.
