Hi All and very Happy holidays to the list, Wonder if anyone has had any
experience with the Omni five or six when it comes to being blind friendly.
i have the kenwood TS570DG which is very blind friendly and quite easy to
use. The rig works fine overall but just looking for a little more in the
receiver department. Several hardcore CW guys just rave about omni six which
i have read has very good receiver and great on CW. i have a harder time
than i think i should with weaker signals and don't feel the 570's DSP is up
there with other units but its ease of use has kept me with it which is
certainly something to consider since it is still basically good rig. Has
anyone used the omni five or six and can you tell me if they are usable by
blind person to get around menues etc. i know they do have option for speach
synth but many rigs have this option and still can't do much with the speach
except tell frequency. This is one area where Kenwood really shines. Any
feelings on the matter. Guess i haven't decided which is more important to
me yet, high quality or ease of use but would rather not compromise and be
able to get both. Again, not bashing the 570 either as had a lot of good
luck with it on CW and SSB as well as great reports, but just think the
receiver has little to be desired compared others where i've read. Thanks
for any suggestions or experiences. 73, Dave W4CI
