Late in coming but here's the summary. I only made it to one place:

Rick and Ann's in Berkeley, CA (great orange rice flour pancakes!!)

5) Tony Roma on Ventura Blvd in Encino (ribs)
6) Alaines in West Los Angeles (310-470-1094) If I'm not mistaken, I read
about this one in Sully's Living Without magazine.
