What can I say...but Thank All of You for the information that you share!

I am clipping some info in...but overall..."too much of the alternatives
become problematic as well." Of course not for everyone...but Rotation is
key in the diet...

So here is some additional info:

*****

"I've heard of a couple of celiacs who have developed sensitivities to rice
after long term g.f. diets, with lots of rice.

As for corn, that is one of the 8 foods that cause 90% of food allergies.
Similar to rice in that it is in the grain family, but does not contain
gluten."

*****

"Many celiacs have intolerances & allergies to other foods. It's not
technically part of celiac, but often as result of the damage to our gut &
immune systems. I personally can't tolerate any grains, starches or sugars.
I follow the specific carbohydrate diet as closely as I can with my many,
many food allergies & intolerances."

*****

"An awful lot of us have allergies to foods besides just wheat. Haven't
figured out all mine yet, but have been reading this list for over a year
now, and there are so, so many of us with other allergies. Do not know why,
just that it seems to work that way."

*****

"One resource that has been helpful is Sally Rockwell's "The Rotation Game:
a diversified rotation diet". This helped me to get a handle on what I
could eat and when."

*****

"Celiac disease is defined as villi flattening in response to gluten, so no,
your grain reactions are not a part of celiac disease. There are people,
like my brother and apparently you, who are celiacs but in addition react to
other carbohydrates. The Specific Carbohydrate Diet may help you."

*****

"From what I have read, it seems that celiac can cause permeability of the
gut so things that would not normally be absorbed are. This can lead to
food allergies because, I believe, the unbroken down food can be absorbed
and the body produces antibodies to it. So if you ate some food often, you
may become allergic to it."

OK...so this is getting long...and we all get the general meaning. All of
the information was wonderful. There is actually a lot that I would like to
tell all of you about me and my condition. But I think this email is long
enough. I will say this...about 7 years ago I did go on a no-carb diet...of
which I modified (stupidly)...nothing but steak & eggs basically...(dumby)
left out veggies. I dropped 40 pounds in 4 weeks -- cool! Yea right...got
real sick--lack of veggies. So I went back to eating normally.

Today, after having my diagnosis for 12 days...eating fresh veggies & fruits
and steak & even fish (I hate fish)...my condition has improved (I will
elaborate in next email)...added bonus...dropped about 8 pounds!

Thanks again all of you...looking forward to future email

I am looking for information for/from/about Celiacs who are also allergic to
many of the alternatives. I have just learned (after many years) that one
of my diseases is Celiac...but my test also showed I have allergies to Corn
and Rice. My family already has experience with GF diet (my brother is
Autistic & must be GF), but when my results came back with Rice, we were
very surprised. Is this or can this also be a part of Celiac?
