Like many celiacs, I don't absorb nutrients very well. I must depend on
an extremely strict diet & supplements to keep me going. I was recently
diagnosed with macrocytic anemia due to folic acid dificiency. For the
past 6 weeks my symptoms were gross fatigue and more recently tight
painful muscles. I've also started a new job which is, of course, a
stressor & could be causing the muscle tension. On my way home from work
yesterday, I picked up a new prescription for folic acid, a B vitamin. I
came home unusually exhausted & with muscle pain. I ate a light dinner,
took a folic acid pill & hit the sack. Two hours later, I awakened
completely pain free with relaxed softened muscles for the first time in
over a week. What I'm wondering is if the folic acid supplement could be
responsible for the relief or if the relief I received was due to the nap
I took & simply a coincidence that it was after taking the folic acid?
Have any of you had similar experiences with folic acid or other B
vitamins? Any opinions? "Inquiring minds want to know!" LOL! ~Valerie
