FDIC Insured

The FBI wanted to set up a contracting scam operation and they needed to
clean some money as financial back-up so the wize guys would not catch wind
of the operation. So, they took $2M of FBI payroll budget and washed it
through a small used bookstore... a whole 'nother story in itself and all of
it mostly true. Then, money in hand, they went out to deposit the funds in
the bank... someone along the way realized that any deposits in a single bank
of greater than $100,000 would not be FDIC insured. Everyone was worried they
would lose their payroll. So they dispatched agents to many banks and quickly
found themselves with agents calling back from the suburbs asking what colors
and logo options were wanted on the designer checks. This was not working so
well, increasingly complicated accounting, and finally the FBI turned to the
CIA for a clean wash. They did catch quite a few bad guys.
