Hi Kathy,

   I taught Amber to prop herself up against the wall or door - she is
hemiplegic and can only use her left hand for this type of thing and tends
to lose her balance and fall down. She places her upper back against the
wall for balance - so far this has worked wonderfully for her. Maybe you
could give it a try and see if it will work for you.
