Hi Everyone,

I recently posted requesting alternative
keystrokes for accessing the Windows Desktop.

Several people responded with very helpful tips.
Most of the responses were sent to my private
email address and a couple people requested that
I post a summary to the list, so here it is
below. Hope this helps!

You can assign a hotkey to desktop shortcuts. If
you have an icon on your desktop, then right
click on the icon and select Properties. Click
on the field next to the Shortcut Key label.
Then
use the ctrl + alt + whatever key to assign the
key stroke to that key. Be very careful to not
assign the same key sequence to more than one
shortcut. If you do then neither will work.
Also if you assign a key to the keypad then the
keystroke will only work if the NumLock key is in
the same state as when the hotkey was created. If
you prefer to not clutter your desktop with icons
then you can goto Start then Programs then go to
the menu item you want to launch. At this point
place the cursor over the item you want to run.
Right click (not the normal left click) and
select properties. Add your hotkey just like
it was stated above.

One possibility, albeit a bit slow, is to press
ctrl-escape, then escape and than tab around to
the different desktop items. The second escape
is critical to close the start menu.

Press Ctrl + Esc then Press Alt + M

If you don't need to see the desktop, you can do
this instead: Press Ctrl + Esc then Press Shift
+ Tab

Thanks again to everyone who posted to help me
out on this!

Megan
