Even raw nuts can be a bit difficult to digest.  I've been soaking almonds in
a jar of water in the frig for a day or so.  They swell up a bit; you can peel
them
easily, they are crunchy and sweet this way.  I haven't tried this with other
nuts
but I expect it would work the same.
