Have you done a "hard" reboot?
When my Compaq Pressario 4910 first came up with
"operating system not found", I thought it was all
over. I tried a hard reboot ( "pull the plug" ) and
it booted just fine. After this happened a few
more times and I could always do a successfu
hard reboot, I stopped panicing. Now I turn off the computer
at a power strip every time I use the software
shut-down. No more "no operating system found"
messages. I also physically turn-off my HP Pavillon 8290,
although I have only had "no o.s found" happen a couple of times
with that machine.
