If you run ipconfig, first open a DOS window and run it. Otherwise you
will have the window close before you can read the results. If you use
ipconfig, you can add the /all option to show all values such as dns.

How do your IP addresses differ? Are they on different networks? If your
subnet mask is a class C of 255.255.255.0, then the first 3 octets of
your IP address must match. For example, addresses 192.168.22.17 and
192.168.1.42 could not communicate with a class C subnet.

I don't know understand your response regarding the NET command. If NET
HELP gives you information, then NET VIEW would not produce a "command
unknown" message. If nothing else, the NET VIEW should show your own
computer if networking is enabled properly.

ipconfig: On computer that shows three computers hooked up in Network
Neighborhood, all host computer, Entire Network, Win98, dialog box
appears with data, but disappears before I can read it. On other
computer where Entire Network is blank, dialog box disappears so fast,
do not know if has data.

winipcfg: Configuration Adapter Address and IP Configuration Address
differ from one computer to other. Do not know if this is important, as
do not plan to share data online.

On both computers, entering NET VIEW commands produced error message
command is unknown. NET VIEW listed as command in Net Help.
