That last tidbit is hilarious!  I've lost count of how many people who
consider themselves vegetarian but snarf fish by the barrell.  WhatEVER.

Anyway, I wish I could remember the source (I think I do but I'll sit on it
just in case), but I've heard it said that never in human history has
vegetarianism at the mass level (society, tribe, etc.) gone beyond one
generation.  Think about it.  Sure, a teenage vegetarian today may be the
child of a vegetarian couple from the 70's but sustained mass vegetarianism?
  It has yet to happen.
