That connection has been made for years. I learned about it in
Agriculture classes in college twenty years ago, it is nothing new, if
those people don't know it, they are incompetent to advise about
babies diet.
The connection between iron and bacterial growth is well documented,
but I don't have any on hand. Tea and coffee bind iron in the food, so
doctors sometimes advise people with anemia to avoid them, tea is also
good if you have upset stomach, for the same reason, it slows bacteria
growth by making them malnourished.
