Well said Tom - I couldn't agree more. It's a question of control of input.
I just try to follow the underlying philosophy ie cut out what cereal based
carbs (plus what other carbs I can do without) I can substituting meat &
nut proteins & fats. Sugars & starches can't be avoided totally - it's a
question of keeping their presence in your diet minimized. Force your body
to utilize protein & fats for it's energy resources & gain the other
advantages.
Sure I eat the odd biscuit, eat the odd slice of bread etc but broadly
speaking I try to follow the basic low carb tenet.
As a type 2 diabetic of 3 years standing my BG is under control (4.5 to 8.5
mmol) and my eyesight is stable. Alcohol is a problem - I try to avoid
wheat based brews favoring red wine when possible (=other benefits) - I
can't avoid it altogether.
