Dust in the wind
Nice song;
but our dust( South of 14)
is a horrible mix of Asbestos and Human remains
tough to sing about
Patriotic duty
but if it helps the glum at heart I do remember one amusing moment on the night of the 12; or so I think
We had been moving heavy eqiptment all day downtown
under escourt and took time out at a bar in Midtown around 9th ave.
It was mid night .we were six deep at the bar at one side
some sat in stone silence as the penny was dropping about friends and collegues
others were doing what they do best
being friends to the bereaved..
There was a juke box playing 60's and 70's and and equal group in size of college aged kids doing their best at having a muted good time.
I excused my self and headed to the mens room; upon my return I was approached by a beautiful young black woman in Mini skirt and long boots."are you by yourself here this evening? she asked...
I said "I was""...but before I could continue
She asked me if I wanted "some company for the evening"...
I replyed that I was sorry I was involved with what happened downtown..
and with that realization she instantly started hugging me saying "Thank You .."thank you ..Im so sorry for your friends..
.and with that last hug she whispered... "tell you what""...get the room and I will do you for free..
.I smiled for the first time in 24 hours ...thanked her out of her genuine patriotic generosity; kissed her cheek and politely begged off returning to our impromtu wake.Michael
