To Canadians;
Former Agriculture Minister Eugene Whalen (he's excellent!) has a half and
hour radio show early Saturday mornings and was talking about Monsanto (I
think it's Monsanto) buying up the huge farms out west and changing the type
of rapeseed from natural to genetically modified. Apparently Europe has
stopped purchasing all Canadian canola oil now because of this. Even other
farms (non-Monsanto) cannot sell the stuff overseas to Europe because their
(natural) crops have become cross-contaminated with Montanto's GMO crops.
And, surprisingly, in Canada there are no rules yet which force suppliers to
indicate that the oil (or any other food for that matter) is
genetically-modified! Europe has this safeguard. Canadians on the list
should try and speak to their federal MPs and demand that that change be
made so we can be aware of what eat.
