ACT NOW

Senator Kennedy's bill on Food Allergen Labeling (S 2499 IS) goes before
the sub-committee on July 31, 2002. Sources in Senator Kennedy's office
and on DC’s Capital Hill tell us that the food industry has swarmed the
Hill to kill the bill. All offices, but especially Democratic offices,
are being inundated with calls and visits from manufacturers to stop
this bill.

Our message must be strong, clear and unified - this bill must pass as
written to protect the health and well being of millions of people.

We must pull together to influence the decisions of the committee. Call,
Fax or Email. (Mailed letters will never reach them in time.) Contact
your Senators...tell them this bill is important to your health and
without it, your health is at risk daily. Beg them to support it as it
is written.

I worked with Senator Kennedy's office over the weekend to strengthen
the wording of the bill related to gluten. They are working hard to
'salvage' the important parts of the bill - the same parts that the food
industry wants to cut.

To find contact information for your Senator go to: www.senate.gov and
get the list by state.

Ask your family and friends to help as well.
