Just a reminder that the Haribo candy available in the US & Israel is
from Spain which is gluten free but as the following information shows
we must be careful about country of origin of our products.
David Walland <[log in to unmask]> sent the following warning:
>Just a warning. Haribo is originally a Danish company but as Betsy has
>found out, their products are made under license in several countries.
>Please be aware that the recipes differ.
>My coeliac wife Karin is a Dane and we visit regularly. It is our
>custom to use up our last Danish coins buying packs of Haribo sweets
>(candy to our transatlantic "cousins") as we leave the country. My >wife has the usual Danish love of salt liquorice. Several varieties >are GF on the Danish side of the border, while the same packs but made >in Germany on the other side ARE NOT GF!!
>Fortunately during my few years living in Denmark, I got a taste for
>salt liquorice too, so they weren't wasted but it was a cruel blow to >my much loved wife when we bought several packs on the German side of >the border and then found out several hours further into Germany. So >do be vigilant.
