This is probably a software (ie driver) problem, but PCBUILD seems like the place for it.  Here goes:  I have a Win98SE machine, had to reinstall the OS, and successfully reinstalled the drivers and software for my SpeedStream 4060 external USB DSL modem.  However, I have been unable to reinstall the drivers and software for the home network, which was/is based on a 1Mbps Intel AnyPoint PCI phoneline adapter.  My PC is the server.  Using the latest AnyPoint version (2.30.02, I think), I can install the driver, and I can see the AnyPoint adapter listed in the device manager and TCP/IP is bound to it, according to the control panel network properties window.  BUT when I try to install the AnyPoint software (the "Connectivity Suite"), I get a message that a conflicting network has been detected that must be removed.  I am given no choice other than to terminate the set-up process.  If I try to install AnyPoint BEFORE DSL, I get the same result.  The only network adapters listed in the Device Manager are Dial-Up Adapter, the AnyPoint adapter, and two adapters for the DSL modem (Efficient Networks PPPoE and Efficient Networks Virtual Miniport).
