Called GI, who said go straight to ped NOW! Ped said rotavirus...said she could test stool and wait til Monday for results but its pointless, he is a classic case. Said he can not go on without nutrition and said to use clear pedialyte in place of water and make regular bottles of Neocate and rice cereal, and if he is willing, rice cereal mixed w/ neocate and clear pedialyte in a bowl. She said if he starts vomiting, gets high temp or seems ANY worse to call ASAP. She told me signs of dehydration and told me I must be doing a good job cuz he looked great (coloring, spirit, behavior) for a kid who has been throwing up and having diarrhea since Monday. So, I am going to watch him...my ped is there til 6 tonight and 9-1 tomorrow and then if I need to the local hospital has a 24/7 pediatric urgent care center. Also, she said she sees no sign of ear infection or anything respiratory so stop the omnicef...she doubts it was that but it is possible. I had to laugh, she showed me Isomil DF and I said "remember, we cant have that he is allergic to milk and soy", she look embarrassed and said "oh yeah, sorry" then she recommended mixing bananas in to rice if he tolerates the rice and I said "nope, bananas give him hives," she just chuckled and said "OK, Mrs. Morris, you 'll catch a break one day...just give Neocate and rice and we're here if you need us."
Thanks for all your replies :)
