Also wanted to say, these tales are from a very old oral tradition, mostly
in Eastern Europe.  I can just see it now - a group of young boys going to
school (yeshiva, I think) and the rebbe tells them these tales to stimulate
their thinking and their interest.  Kinda like our TV.
