There was a time, during my dark moods when Janis Ian ("I learned the truth
at 17..")would help me out. As I listened a voice in my head would say
something like "Geez! What are you feeling bad about? Your life is a piece
of cake compared to this woman." Worked every time.

That was "La Bamba" (Lou Diamond Phillips) it's a good double rental with
"The Buddy Holly Story" (Gary Busey) Holly was on the same plane.
