May 10th - CSA Orange County Walk/Run for Celiac Disease
The Orange County CSA chapter is holding a 5K walk/run and 1K walk/run on May 10th, 2003, at the William R. Mason Park in Irvine, California.
The 1K begins at 9:00 a.m and the 5K begins at 10:00 a.m. Vendors will be set up by 8:00 a.m. Be sure to come early to register. The park opens at 7:00 a.m.
In conjunction with our walk/run there will be:
a.. Free celiac blood screening provided by Prometheus Labs
b.. Vendor Fair with many gluten-free manufacturers and other celiac-related vendors
c.. Community Health Fair with free health screening tests including body fat, blood pressure, and glucose testing
d.. Medical professionals to answer questions
e.. Vendor products for purchase
f.. A huge raffle drawing (must be present to win)
g.. Box lunches (both gluten-free and nongluten-free)
h.. Live music
Proceeds from the fundraiser will go toward research by Chaitan Khosla at Stanford University, who is working on a cure for celiac disease. Proceeds will also be used to educate the physicians in the Orange County area.
This event is sponsored by Stanford University Celiac Sprue Research Foundation, Prometheus Labs, Henry’s Marketplace, Coastal Community Hospital, and Tenet Healthcare Foundation. This event is hosted by the Orange County Chapter of CSA.
