Thanks to all. MOST said Smarties were gf. A few responses that they were
not. A few responses that Milk Duds were also gf. Someone emailed the spread
sheet that is noted below I tried to attach it didn't work to well. I have
attached a few responses that I think were very helpful...
.......
I dont know about milk duds but smarties contain wheat. I was just given
some for my kids from england and they had wheat in the list of
ingredients.
The October 2002 Celiac Disease On-Line Support Group list includes Smarties
on its gluten free list. Also, someone on this listserve (their name escapes
me but I think is from WheatFreeFoods.com) put together an MS Excel list of
gluten free Candy and Gum (after a lot of investigative work) and includes
Milk Duds on their list. I don't know why both products don't appear on both
lists unless the list creators just haven't checked those particular brands.
Yes they are Debbie, my daughter eats both with no problem
Mild Duds and Smarties were reported GF in the Celiac Disease Foundations
newsletter within the last year.....
The Gluten Intolerance Group put out a list for Halloween of ALL GF name
brand
candies....try and get a copy of that, it's very helpful.
*Support summarization of posts, reply to the SENDER not the CELIAC List*
