Greetings to all at Maelstrom. Physicians don't seem to agree on the amount
of thyroid I need, so I simply adjust my own dosage until I'm feeling
better. Recently I began taking 3 gr daily and, finally, bingo! I'm where I
need to be. However, I need to avoid getting so far up that I do myself
damage. I've assumed that risk already, on the theory better dead than half
dead, because being only half awake was an untenable situation for me. My
last lab readings were TSH 1.402 with a "normal" range listed as 0.350 -
5.500, which I interpret as having a slightly low thyroid function. I take
the generic form of Armour Thyroid, having finally switched from Synthroid
in November 2001 after reading a NEJM article about some patients being
unable to convert T4 to T3. Today, Friday May 13th, I'm feeling Good on
my 3 gr and several cups of strong black coffee, plus my vitamins and
minerals. Any suggestions, advice, cautions, and the like would be
appreciated. Most specifically, is anyone able to recommend an endo known
for thyroid expertise in Louisville, KY? I was kept on Synthroid for years
by board certified endocrinologists before Nov 01 despite my complaints of
feeling incomplete and hardly functioning. Thanks again. Edith Wallace
