Hi all.
My 17 year old son had routine blood work done recently, and his TSH came
back at .53 (the lab's reference range is .70-6.40). The Total T4 was within
normal range. This happened once before, last year (TSH .53), and we repeated
the labs about a month later and the TSH had risen to 1.22.
I was dx'd with Grave's this past August and am wondering if I should be
concerned with this fluctuation. My son's pediatrician doesn't seem to be...she
said to repeat the labs in a month or two. Can this simply be my son's
"normal"? Does normal TSH fluctuate? My son is on a medication for seizures, and on
concerta for attention deficit disorder. Any knowledge of drugs effecting
the TSH levels? Is there any other specific bloodwork we should be doing on him?
Thanks in advance for any input.
Regards,
Cheryl
