was put on a trial dose of synthyroid for a month because I had a normal T4
but low T3. After taking it for one month my doctor wanted to see if I was
truly hypothyroid so she ran a T4 test only. No TSH no T3, nothing else. I had
taken my thyroid medication 2 hours before the blood test. The T4 test came
back slightly higher than the range she said was necessary for supplementation.
She said I don't need to take synthyroid anymore based on this one test.
She said a TSH test is only good for testing whether or not someone is hypo or
hyperthyroid, not a therapeutic test, and the T3 test was not necessary either.
She said the T4 is the best test to see whether or not one needs
supplementation. Is she correct?
