I could never use the pill because I had horrible fatigue and emotional
side effects. I didn't understand why until a nurse told me that people
who are hypothyroid can have problems with the pill.
Estrogen and thyroid hormones have a delicate balance in the body,
which is why many of us in our 40's have a tougher time with this than
we did when we were younger when estrogen levels were more consistent.
I have always gotten pretty hypo right before my cycle starts...this
got worse in my 40's as estrogen levels got more erratic. I get tired,
hair falls out, constipation, depression/pms, my hands go numb at night,
the whole freaking bag. I've tried all kinds of things thanks to a
wonderful doctor, and the emotional stuff has levelled out quite a bit,
but the rest of it is still there but not every month. Now, I'm just
praying for menopause.
